Here’s a movie about Manama. This movie will give you a quick impression of the destination. The movie is not made by our own IFLY crew members. A special IFLYtheworld movie is in production and will be online soon.
IFLY tips
Manama Souq (2 hrs)
Souq is the Arabic word for market, and before the modern shopping malls started popping up everywhere this was the place to buy anything from clothes, electronics, incense, perfumes, food, spices, gold and much more.
Of course when you’re in Manama, you should visit the souq. It’s located in the middle of the city centre, behind Government Avenue. Go there late afternoon or in the evening and you’ll have a wonderful evening.
National Museum (2 hrs)
It’s good to know some history of the island of Bahrain, and all about that you will find at the Bahrain National Museum. The museum shows a lot of archeology, traditions, costumes and history of the country. You can also see how the people used to live in the old days of Dilmun civilisation.
Besides all that the museum has an art gallery which shows contemporary art. It’s located at the corner of Shaikh Hamad Causeway and Al Fatih Highway. The entrance fee is 200 Fills.
The lost paradise of Dilmun (1 day)
Whether you are a thrill seeker, an active adventurer or just want to spend the day on a real sand beach, you can have it all at the Lost Paradise Of Dilmun. The Park claims to be the biggest in the Middle East and it has a lot to offer, like a sandy beach, a lazy river, Wave pool and many slides. There’s something to do for young and old.
The Park entry price is by length. Under 1,2 meter it’s 5 Bahrain Dinar and over 1.2 meter it will be 7 BD. Look at their website to see the actual opening hours. The park is about 40 minutes drive from Downtown Manama and it’s located next to Bahrain International Circuit.
Bahrain International Circuit (½ day)
The circuit of Bahrain is opened in 2004 and hosts the annual Bahrain Grand Prix. But during the year there’s a lot more to do. There’s a Karting track as well and the circuit offers a Hummer driving Academy.
Karting for example is available at Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 3.30 and 10.30 pm. Passenger (extreme) rides in a Hummer are available every Thursday. And a tour behind the scenes of the circuit is every Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. For actual information or bookings, call them at: +973 1745 0000.
