Galleria Mall (½ day)

For the real shopping experience you should go to the Uptown Galleria district. Shops, fine dining, sports and hotels sit within two square miles.

The Galleria mall is the largest mall in Texas and seventh largest in the United States. In this mall you will find more than 375 stores, hotels, an ice rink and endless food options.
The regular mall hours are: Mon to Sat from 10 am to 9 pm and on Sunday from 11 am to 7 pm. Restaurant, cinema, and store hours may differ from mall hours. See Store Directory for details.


The Hat Store (1 hr)

When you are in Texas, you need to buy a nice souvenir. And which souvenir is more local then a real cowboy hat. And the best hats in Houston can be bought at The Hat Store. The hats are a bit expensive, but it’s absolutely the best quality.

The Hat Store is located in Houston, Texas and offers custom hand-shaped western (cowboy) style hats, men's dress hats, western (cowboy) straw hats, and unique western hatbands. Every single western hat is steamed and hand-shaped just the way you like as in days of old.

The Hat Store has fit and hand shaped western felt hats for many famous people such as the former President George H. Bush, Texas Governor Rick Perry, entertainers such as Dusty Hill of ZZ Top, Lyle Lovett, Merle Haggard, Clint Black, Alabama, Larry Gatlin, great western actor Dennis Weaver, Craig Biggio and Lance Berkman of the Houston Astros, Shaquille O'Neal (Shaq) of the LA Lakers and many more.

The location of the shop is 5587 Richmond Avenue, at the corner of Richmond and Chimney Rock. They are about ¾ of a mile west southwest of the Houston Galleria Mall.

Heights area and Washington Avenue (3 hrs)

Houston Washington Avenue
Northeast of downtown is an area of historic neighbourhoods that date back to the late 1800’s. Residents once came here to escape the big city. Today, hipsters and young couples seek its character, defined by its architecture, funky restaurants and proximity to Washington Avenue nightlife.

During daytime it’s nice to spend some time at one of the wonderful boutiques, antique shops, and cafes at the Heights strip. When the sun goes down, head to Washington Avenue, where wine bars, lounges and restaurants rule the night.

The Original Brenner’s Steakhouse (2 hrs)

In Houston you have to eat steak of course and a great place to have that is at Brenner’s Steakhouse. They are famous for their USDA Prime steaks, and they also serve a lot of delicious seafood specialities. To complement your meal, Brenner’s features a full-service bar with over 200 wines from around the world, from hard-to-find vintages to new releases.

Actually there are two locations, The Original Brenner’s Steakhouse at 10911 Katy Freeway and Brenner’s on the Bayou at One Birdsall Street. Both locations are open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. Reservations are recommended. This can be done through their website. Here you will find the directions as well.
