The Fying Fishbone restaurant (2 hrs)

Aruba Flying Fishbone
One of the most beautiful locations for a restaurant can be found in Savaneta. At restaurant The Flying Fishbone you can with your feet in the sand or even in the sea.

This great restaurant has a gorgeous menu and a spectacular location; it is a bit expensive though. Check the menu and much more information at their website.

The restaurant is open daily from 5 pm. Coming from Oranjestad, if you see a big sign Flying Fishbone, turn right and follow the road. You'll see it on your right hand side.

The West Deck (1-2 hrs)

Aruba West Deck
Our favourite place for lunch or dinner in Oranjestad is The West Deck, where you can have your lunch or dinner with sea view.

This lovely place is located next to Wilhelmina Park on the brand new Linear Park at the Governors Bay. It is set on a large wooden deck over the white sandy beach and right by the water’s edge.

The menu is based on ‘small plates’, mostly Caribbean specialities. Order a few of these dishes and you can share them like tapas. The food is delicious but what attracts us most is the caring and enthusiastic attitude of the staff. A must go.

Moomba at Moomba Beach (Sunday eve)

Aruba Moomba
A great hangout spot at the beach (especially at Sunday evenings) is Moomba Beach bar and restaurant. Have your sunset drink at the beach before moving on to the restaurant.

The open-air seaside restaurant is a great place to have your dinner and at Sunday evenings they offer a mouth-watering all-you-can-eat BBQ. After dinner you have to go to the bar again to enjoy more drinks and live music.

You will find Moomba at the end of the high-rise hotels at next to Palm Beach (coming from Oranjestad). A taxi from downtown will cost you approximately $14 one-way. It might be hard to get a taxi back so you have to arrange a taxi in advance or go to the taxi stand in the nearby Marriott Ocean Club Hotel.

Reflextions Beach club (1 hr - ½ day)

Aruba Reflextions
One of the best chill out places in Oranjestad is Reflextions. The former name of this trendy beach club is Nikky beach.

They offer very comfortable beach beds with sheets and umbrellas. Two beds and an umbrella will cost you $22. Their food and drinks are a bit expensive as well, but it is definitely worth to go to this hidden jewel.

It is located between Oranjestad and the airport. From the beach you can see the planes fly in. It is also a perfect spot for kids as there are no big waves. If you swim further away from the beach you have to be careful for boats though.

It is very nearby Oranjestad. A taxi from downtown will cost you $7 but you can easily walk there as well, along the Linear Park walkway.

Souvenir market (1 hr)

Aruba Souvenir Market
The best place to buy your souvenirs in downtown Oranjestad is at the market on L.G. Smith Boulevard just across from the upscale shopping Walhalla Renaissance Mall.

During daytime you can buy all kind of Caribbean crafts, souvenir clothes and local products. And remember to bargain, especially when there is a cruise ship in the harbour.

El Faro Blanco Italian restaurant (2 hrs)

Aruba El Faro Blanco
The California Lighthouse located on the northwest tip of Aruba. This lighthouse was named for the steamship California, which wrecked nearby in 1891. Next to the lighthouse you will find La Trattoria El Faro Blanco, which is a great Italian restaurant.

They serve mini breakfast from 8:30 am, lunch from 11 am, dinner from 5:30 pm and sunset happy hours between 5 and 7 pm. And for sure this is one of the places on Aruba with the best view.

Go to their website for more information and reservations or call them directly at (297) 5860786 / 87.

Renaissance Mall (1-2 hrs)

Aruba Renaissance Mall

Stores are open from Mondays through Saturdays from 10 am to 8 pm. There are several entrances to the mall, from L.G. Smith Boulevard on one side and on the other side from shopping street Havenstraat.

Royal Plaza shopping (1 hr)

Aruba Royal Plaza
One of the most distinctive buildings in downtown Oranjestad happens to be a lovely shopping centre as well: Royal Plaza at L.G. Smith Boulevard 94. This lovely pink-coloured building has cafés, a post office (open weekdays 8 am to 3:30 pm), stores of major brands and local souvenir shops.

Some stores on Aruba close between noon and 2pm, and many shops and malls close by 6pm. If you plan to make a special trip, call ahead to be sure the stores you want to visit are open.

Penha Aruba (1 hr)

Aruba Penha
The place to be on Aruba to buy cheap perfumes and cosmetics is Penha. There are five Penha stores on Aruba. The largest is in Oranjestad, right next to the Renaissance Hotel. Two smaller outlets are located at the Holiday inn Hotel and the Palm Beach Plaza.
